StudioPress has a lot of great-looking, flexible themes for Genesis. While we can work with any of them, we took the time to select a few that we thought could work well for a professional, business-oriented website:

Maximum – this one has great visual impact. You can have us select and purchase 3 stock photos for the bottom 3 sections instead of designing 2 buttons if you prefer. Additional stock photography recommendations can be purchased a la carte above.

Freelance – a personal favorite of ours, because it makes it easy to introduce your business on the home page and yet pull people right into your blog posts or list-building efforts with the sidebar.

Driskill – “responsive” design – meaning it sizes automatically for the appropriate device, including mobile phones – built in. We love the bright, white, clean look of the Light version. We can substitute stock photography help for graphics work, as with the Maximum theme above, upon request. Keep in mind that the size of a header graphic/logo for this theme is limited to 270 pixels wide by 120 pixels tall, in order to accommodate mobile devices.

AgentPress – while this one has functionality built in for Realtors, it’s not just for Realtors. Check out how we’ve worked with Jay Fleischman to customize it for his Legal Practice Pro blog – the property search becomes an opt-in and the image slider becomes a Featured blog post. *What’s with all the asterisks up above?

Well, those are to lead you to the fine print, in which we explain a few things and answer a few nagging questions:

*Timing: When we say “about 21 days,” that of course depends on your feedback loop and our backlog. We obviously can’t start until we have all your info and necessary collateral.

*Hosting: We recommend that you use HostGator or another large, WordPress-friendly hosting company for your website. If you sign up for the WebMistress Service, we’ll be thrilled to throw in hosting. We do not recommend GoDaddy or Network Solutions for hosting – GoDaddy is slow, and Network Solutions’ customer service is some of the worst we’ve ever seen. If you choose a host that is not WordPress and cPanel friendly, we may have to add an hourly fee for the hassle of dealing with them – sometimes we won’t know that until after the fact. Many hosts claim to be able to handle WordPress, but they refuse to grant the permissions necessary to help it run smoothly and properly.

*Domain name registration: You are responsible for registering the domain name you wish to use with a registrar like GoDaddy or Hover.com. You do not need to buy services like email, private registration, hosting, or anything else from the registrar.

Content uploads: If you have content ready, we’ll upload up to 7 pages for you – or if you just want to get your website up and work on the content in situ, we can hide it from the search engines and show you how to “unveil” it when you’re ready – no extra charge.

*Design revisions: We will present you with one concept – because we feel that that concept is absolutely the best one for your business. We include two revisions – which may even mean a complete do-over – in the fee. If we didn’t get it right the first time, we require clear, concise feedback and direction from you before making the second attempt. Additional revisions past the two may incur an hourly fee. We’ll get the header hammered out first, so that the buttons/forms can be designed to coordinate.

*Background changes: Some Genesis child themes come with different color choices, and some with only one choice for the background. We will design to coordinate with that background (or your choice of those available). In some cases, we can change the background to match a color in your logo upon request, but this may be subject to an additional fee. Other color choices not referenced in an existing logo introduce a whole new set of variables, so that would then become a custom design for which we would need to provide a proposal.

*Custom design beyond what is covered here: The ExpressLaunch program is designed for people who are on a budget, in terms of both time and money, who will be happy to have a lightly customized Genesis child theme so they can start publishing content, getting indexed, and getting business. *Email account setup: We’ll set up the email accounts on the host, and provide you with the settings and some tutorials to help you get them going in Outlook or your favorite email client. We do not support the setup of accounts in your email box on your end, since that would require us to be present and hands-on at your office.

*AWeber opt-in form: If you’re already running an AWeber list, and you need a pretty form to match your website, the design of that form and embedding it on your site via AWeber is what’s included. If you need us to set up your list for you as well, that’s an additional $97. Email programs besides AWeber may incur a bit of an hourly fee for additional development time.

*Gravity Forms contact form: We use Gravity Forms for “contact us” type forms, and they can be infinitely customized. However, what we are including is a basic Name/Email/Phone/Message form. More complex forms may require additional development time.

Do I need to buy Genesis and the child theme myself? No, that’s not required in order to be legal, because we own a license. However, if you don’t purchase a license then you will not be issued a login with StudioPress for support and upgrades – it’s around an $80 investment, so you may want to go ahead and do it for that reason.
